The marching band is an important part of Healthy Communities Healthy Youth. The program was founded by the Search Institute that seeks to unite individuals, organizations, and their leaders to join together in nurturing competent, caring and responsible children and adolescents. Developmental assets are positive factors in young people, families, communities, schools and other settings that have been found to be important in promoting young people's healthy developments. Search Institute's framework organizes 40 assets into eight categories: support, empowerment, boundaries and expectations, constructive use of time, commitment to learning, positive values, social competencies and positive identity. The Greece Marching Band will help students develop the 40 assets

With the guidance of Conor Cusack, Brittany LaRocque and Ashley Krueger introduced The "Assets" Program to the Marching Band. This program was developed by the Search Institute.
Search Institute is an independent nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide leadership, knowledge, and resources to promote healthy children, youth, and communities. To accomplish this mission, the institute generates and communicates new knowledge, and brings together community, state, and national leaders.
At the heart of the institute's work is the framework of 40 Developmental Assets, which are positive experiences and personal qualities that young people need to grow up healthy, caring, and responsible.
Each week Lauren and Madison will choose one asset each week that the students can strive for 1 -3 students will be chosen and honorably mentioned each week for displaying the asset of that week.
To date the asset and students chosen are listed below (alphabetically). Congratulations to our students for striving to attain these developmental assets.
